School Success
Children learn to read in the primary grades (1st to 3rd grade). In
fourth grade and beyond, they read to learn. We train volunteers to
spend 1/2 hour with a child who is learning to read. Each volunteer will
read with the same two students over a semester or year. Our volunteers focus on
demonstrating a love of reading and having fun while they read.
ReadFresno concentrates its efforts on reaching children in the lowest performing elementary schools in Fresno
County. ReadFresno launched a pilot program in four schools in
2005. Now we have over 225 volunteers in 29 schools.
