Tips for Parents
- Start reading to your child from infancy. This helps their brain
cells develop.
- Read every thing to your children...stop signs, movie cases, cereal
boxes, be creative
- Take books everywhere with you. When your children have to wait
at the Dr's office or bus stop, they can read.
- Take your children to the library often. Use Library Resources
- Homework Help
- Story Time
- Infant/Toddler Lap/Sit Program
- Let your children see you reading. It tells them that reading is
important.
- Let your children know that books are special.
- Choose the right book. If a child cannot read more than 5 words
on a page, then books is too hard.
- Read the same books over and over to build success.
Our goal: to have every child reading by the end of
the third grade
