To enroll your child in ReadFresno program, there are two requirements and one step to follow up.

  • First, your child must be in 1st, 2nd or 3rd grade.
  • Second, your child must be in Fresno Unified School District after-school program. Click here to see the list of FUSD schools with ReadFresno.
  • Follow- up by calling ReadFresno to request that your child be place in program. They may have to be placed on a waiting list. (559-443-7323)

  • Start reading to your child from infancy. This helps their brain cells develop.
  • Read every thing to your children...stop signs, movie cases, cereal boxes, be creative
  • Take books everywhere with you. When your children have to wait at the Dr's office or bus stop, they can read.
  • Take your children to the library often. Use Library Resources

  • Let your children see you reading. It tells them that reading is important.
  • Let your children know that books are special.
  • Choose the right book. If a child cannot read more than 5 words on a page, then books is too hard.
  • Read the same books over and over to build success.
