River Park Book Drive - June 18- July 11

Donate new and nearly new books at participating River Park stores now through July 11. Grand finale on July 11, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Celebration includes mayor candidates. Ringling Bros. will leap over stacks of books.

Book we can use

  • Baby books
Soft cover or cloth books that can be washed.
  • Preschool
Picture books about the alphabet or colors. Bed time story books are also good.
  • Early Reader Books
In most book stores, the early reader section is divided into reading levels. We use level one, level two and level three books. The books that are most in demand for our afterschool program are level one books.
  • Classic Fairytales and Fables
Teachers are requesting that we read classic Fairytales and Fables to children.
  • Bilingual books
Children's books in Spanish, Lao, Khmer or Hmong are in demand.
  • Books that repeat phrases
Books that have a rhythm and repeat simple phrases are good for new readers.

We teach children to read
